Ryoko Hirosue faces scrutiny over traffic rule violations

Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue and her 22-year-old son have faced scrutiny following reports of traffic rule violations in Tokyo. The incident occurred on October 1, when Hirosue’s son, who recently obtained his driver's license in September to serve as her manager and driver, was observed operating a vehicle without the required beginner driver mark.

Additionally, Hirosue was reported to have improperly worn her seatbelt by pulling the shoulder strap behind her back while seated in the passenger seat. Hirosue had previously surrendered her own driver's license following a high-speed collision in April 2025 that resulted in injuries to a passenger.

Hirosue’s agency has acknowledged the situation, stating that the son has since received guidance and is now displaying the mandatory mark. The agency also noted that Hirosue is “deeply reflecting” on her failure to wear the seatbelt correctly and expressed apologies for the oversight.
