Ryoko Hirosue returns to acting with reading drama in Tokyo

Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue has completed her first acting engagement since becoming independent from her previous agency in February 2024. She performed in the reading drama ‘ACT/Ryoko Hirosue meets The Little Prince’ at the Cotton Club in Marunouchi, Tokyo, from October 16 to 18.

The production, based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic, featured a script by Masaya Kakei accompanied by live music including guitar, piano, accordion, and violin. Following the performance, Hirosue shared photos from the stage on Instagram, describing the project as a “first immersive experience” and expressing gratitude to the collaborators and audience.

Hirosue had previously taken a hiatus from the entertainment industry following a traffic accident in Shizuoka Prefecture last April and subsequent diagnoses of bipolar disorder and hyperthyroidism. She officially announced her return to professional activities on April 1, 2024.
