Ryotaro Ito transfer to Blackburn Rovers stalled by medical concerns

The potential transfer of Japanese midfielder Ryotaro Ito to English Championship club Blackburn Rovers has reportedly stalled due to concerns regarding an ankle issue identified during a medical examination.

Ito, who recently left the Belgian side Sint-Truiden VV after a productive season, was nearing a multi-year deal with Blackburn. While some reports indicated the transfer was effectively cancelled following the medical check, other sources suggest the situation remains uncertain. Blackburn is reportedly seeking specialist opinions regarding Ito’s history of ankle injuries to determine whether to proceed with the contract or pursue other midfield targets.

Manager Tony Mowbray expressed uncertainty regarding the deal's outcome, noting that the club's medical department, leadership, and external experts were involved in the decision-making process. If the move fails to materialize, Ito remains a free agent and may consider options including a return to the J.League.
