Rystad Energy secures growth investment from Marlin Equity Partners

Marlin Equity Partners has entered into a definitive agreement to make a growth investment in Rystad Energy, an independent provider of energy-market research, data, and intelligence solutions. While the financial terms were not disclosed, Rystad founder Jarand Rystad and existing shareholders will retain a majority stake in the company.

Rystad Energy plans to utilize the investment to expand its advisory capabilities, artificial intelligence initiatives, product development, and go-to-market operations. The firm aims to scale its position in the energy intelligence market, providing data across oil, gas, renewable energy, and power markets.

Separately, Rystad Energy research indicates that $9.6 billion in upstream assets in Southeast Asia are expected to be available for sale through 2027. This market is shifting from non-core exits by major companies to strategic entries by independents and national oil companies. Recent transaction metrics show rising prices, with development assets reaching $9.8 per barrel of oil equivalent.
