Rzeszów Hospital Performs First Robotic Whipple Procedure in Podkarpacie

The University Clinical Hospital in Rzeszów (USK) carried out the first minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) in the Podkarpacie region, using the da Vinci Xi surgical robot. Surgeons Marcin Bajorek and Dawid Dzido led the operation, which lasted more than six hours. The patient recovered well and was discharged on the seventh day after surgery.

The use of the da Vinci system is expected to improve precision, reduce surgical trauma and speed recovery for patients with pancreatic head cancers and related conditions, marking a significant step forward for advanced minimally invasive surgery in southeastern Poland.
