Răzvan Lucescu near deal with Qatar's Al‑Sadd on €3.5 million yearly contract

Romanian coach Răzvan Lucescu, former national team manager, is in advanced negotiations to join Al‑Sadd of the Qatar Stars League. The club has offered a salary of four million US dollars per year, about €3.5 million, plus performance bonuses. Al‑Sadd proposed a two‑year contract, while Lucescu prefers a three‑year deal.

Lucescu would replace Roberto Mancini, who was recently dismissed by Al‑Sadd. The move follows his recent departure from Greek side PAOK, where he led the team to two Greek championships and two cups across two spells (2017‑2019 and 2021‑2026). PAOK announced the split despite Lucescu’s contract running to 2027.

The coach previously worked in the Gulf, managing Al‑Jaish in Qatar (2012‑2014) and Al‑Hilal in Saudi Arabia (2019‑2021), giving him familiarity with the region.
