S. Jaishankar honors Indian royals who sheltered Polish refugees in Warsaw

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Warsaw to pay tribute at monuments commemorating the humanitarian assistance provided by Indian royals to Polish refugees during World War II.

Jaishankar visited the Kolhapur Memorial, which honors the Kolhapur princely state for providing refuge to approximately 5,000 Polish women and children in Walivade, near Kolhapur. He also visited the Dobry Maharaja Memorial to honor Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja of Nawanagar, who provided shelter to over 1,000 Polish children.

The visit follows high-level discussions between Jaishankar and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski regarding trade, investment, defense, space, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and supply chain resilience.
