S. Jaishankar meets UAE Foreign Minister to discuss global reforms

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral relations and global issues. The meeting took place alongside the West Asia edition of the Raisina Dialogue, where both leaders participated in a session titled ‘The World Ahead: Power, Purpose and Possibility’.

During the discussions, Jaishankar emphasized the urgent need for reforms in multilateral institutions to reflect the rapidly changing global order. He suggested that ‘minilateralism’—cooperation between smaller, focused groups of nations—can help drive progress when consensus is difficult to achieve in larger multilateral forums.

Jaishankar cited the strengthening partnership between India and the UAE over the last decade as a prime example of how nations can adapt to a shifting global environment through strategic understanding and new partnerships.
