S. Jaishankar rebukes Pakistani journalist at UNGA

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar issued a sharp rebuttal to a Pakistani journalist. The confrontation occurred following a press event regarding the ‘Group of Friends’ on shipping and seafarer safety, which included Liberia's Foreign Minister Sara Beysolo Nyantey.

In response to allegations made by the journalist regarding India's role in promoting terrorism in Pakistan, Jaishankar responded by asking, “Is a terrorist country asking me this?” Following the exchange, the Indian delegation, including Permanent Representative to the UN Harish Parvathaneni, exited the session. Parvathaneni noted that the journalist had clearly heard the minister's response.
