S1 expands school safety services with AI and IoT solutions

S1 is expanding its school safety services beyond traditional intruder detection to include comprehensive facility management and user safety using AI and IoT technologies. This shift responds to the increasing trend of opening school facilities, such as gymnasiums, to local communities, which creates management burdens for schools during nights and weekends.

The company’s unmanned management system for gymnasiums automates door operations, lighting, and climate control based on scheduled times. It provides voice guidance to users and ensures the facility is secured after hours. Additionally, the ‘Intelligent School Safety Package’ utilizes AI video analysis to monitor seven types of abnormal situations in real time, including fire signs, unauthorized entry, school violence, and smoking, sending instant alerts to administrators.

To address the challenges of aging infrastructure—with over 20% of South Korean school buildings being more than 40 years old—S1 is also deploying IoT solutions like ‘Blue Scan.’ These sensors monitor water leaks and electrical equipment 24/7 to detect issues before they escalate. Currently, S1 is conducting leak response consulting for 60 schools in the Incheon area.
