S19 expressway tunnel construction reaches 1,000-meter milestone

Construction of the S19 expressway in the Podkarpackie region has reached a new milestone. The TBM machine, named ‘Karpatka’, has successfully bored 1,000 meters of the second tunnel bore on the Rzeszów Południe – Babica section.

To support the progress, workers have installed 500 lining rings consisting of 5,000 prefabricated concrete elements known as tubings. The total tunnel project is expected to exceed 2.2 km in length, designed as a dual-bore structure where each bore handles traffic in one direction. The first bore of this section was completed in December 2025.
