S3 expressway tunnel repairs scheduled for reopening October 12

The Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad (GDDKiA) has announced a schedule for repairing the S3 expressway tunnel following a truck fire. Technical crews are currently working to secure equipment and clean infrastructure, removing soot and fire-extinguishing substances from walls and surfaces.

Repair work is scheduled to continue through the weekend, with engineers focusing on the installation, welding, and calibration of the fiber-optic linear temperature measurement system between October 9 and 10. Comprehensive safety system tests, including ventilation and emergency scenarios, are planned for Sunday, October 11. If these tests are successful, the tunnel is expected to reopen to traffic on Monday, October 12.
