S4C documentary series follows new teachers across Wales

A new fly-on-the-wall television series titled ‘Athrawon’ will debut on S4C, following eight newly qualified teachers across five schools in Wales during their first year of teaching. Produced by Carlam and supported by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales, the five-episode series aims to provide an honest look at the challenges and rewards of the modern education system.

Featured participants include Cai Fôn Davies and Alisa MacCallum-Williams from Ysgol y Creuddyn in Penrhyn Bay, as well as chemistry teacher Siôn-Rhys Evans from Ysgol Llanhari in Pontyclun. The series intends to highlight the vital role of educators in shaping future generations and may serve to inspire others to enter the profession, particularly in high-demand subjects like science.
