S5 expressway collision involving moose leaves three injured
A serious collision occurred on the S5 expressway heading towards Bydgoszcz on September 4 around 2:00 AM when an Audi A4 struck a moose. The impact was severe, causing the animal to penetrate the vehicle's front section, windshield, and roof. The moose died at the scene.
Three people, including a child, were traveling in the vehicle. The 43-year-old driver was airlifted by the Medical Air Rescue (LPR) to a hospital in Poznań. The two female passengers were transported to a hospital in Gniezno. Preliminary police investigations indicate the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. The accident caused a closure of the S5 expressway for approximately two hours while emergency services cleared the wreckage.
