Sa Pa and Bình Lư partner to expand Hoàng Liên Sơn tourism

Authorities in Lào Cai and Lai Châu provinces are working to expand tourism development through the connection of cultural heritage sites, specifically focusing on the Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Bình Lư (Lai Châu) and Sa Pa (Lào Cai) for the 2026–2030 period to create a strategic, integrated development space.

This cooperation aims to combine Sa Pa’s established tourism brand and service infrastructure with Bình Lư’s potential in eco-tourism, community tourism, and agricultural products. By linking these resources, officials hope to create a broader experience for visitors and move away from isolated local development.

Efforts are also being made to address the seasonal nature of tourism in areas like Mù Cang Chải, where a significant portion of annual visitors arrive during the Golden Rice Season festival. Local leaders are seeking to develop year-round products and strengthen links with travel businesses to increase visitor spending and length of stay.
