Sa Pa hosts Brocade Festival to celebrate Northwest ethnic culture
The Brocade Festival, themed ‘Golden Season of Brocade Colors,’ opened on August 22 at Ban May within the Sun World Fansipan Legend area in Sa Pa. The event celebrates the indigenous culture of Northwest Vietnam through traditional music, dance, and vibrant ethnic textiles.
Highlights of the festival include the ‘Rainy and Sunny Season’ minishow, which utilizes Hmong cultural elements and a 25-meter brocade cloth to depict local life and traditions. The celebration also features traditional ceremonies, such as the New Rice rituals of the Tay and Thai ethnic groups, alongside folk dances and musical performances that encourage interaction between performers and international tourists.
