Sa Pa launches ‘Green Sa Pa’ sustainable tourism program

The Sa Pa Ward People's Committee, in collaboration with the Lao Cai Provincial Tourism Association and Fansipan Sa Pa Cable Car Tourism Service Co., Ltd., has launched the ‘Green Sa Pa’ program. This initiative is tied to the ‘Sa Pa Clean’ project and aims to transform the area into a green, civilized, modern, and sustainable tourism urban center.

The program involves continuous activities such as environmental sanitation, urban beautification, tree planting, and waste management. It also focuses on long-term solutions including raising community awareness, applying technology, and promoting civilized lifestyles. Key components include establishing ‘Green Tourism Business’ models, ‘Civilized Streets,’ and ‘Green-Clean-Beautiful Residential Groups.’

Local authorities will act as organizers and coordinators, while residential groups and businesses serve as direct contributors to the town's landscape and service quality. The initiative encourages businesses to practice responsible commerce and urges tourists and residents to reduce single-use plastics and protect the local cultural identity.
