SA20 Season 5 squads feature Mitchell Marsh, Joe Root and Sam Curran

South Africa's SA20 league has confirmed the retained and pre‑signed players for all six franchises ahead of the player auction on 7 October. Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh will make his SA20 debut for the triple champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, joining 2026 Player of the Season Quinton de Kock. England’s Test captain Joe Root remains with the Paarl Royals for a second spell, while all‑rounder Sam Curran returns to the Durban Super Giants.

Two franchises – Durban Super Giants and Paarl Royals – have already completed their 19‑player rosters. The remaining teams still have a total of 19 slots to fill at the upcoming auction. Other notable signings include England’s Phil Salt to the Pretoria Capitals, Australian Matthew Short to the same side, and various local stars across the squads.

Season 5 is scheduled to begin on 17 January 2027 at St George’s Park, with the final set for 21 February at Newlands.
