Saša Horvat appointed director of University of Rijeka Foundation

The Governing Board of the University of Rijeka Foundation has appointed Associate Professor Dr. Saša Horvat as the new director for the 2026–2029 term. Horvat, an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Rijeka, presented a development vision titled ‘Knowledge that connects. Technology that serves. Community that grows.’

Horvat’s academic work is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the intersections of philosophy, medicine, neurophilosophy, and ethics. His research interests include artificial intelligence, autism, the relationship between science and faith, critical thinking, and decision-making. As director, he intends to strengthen the Foundation’s international scientific standing and promote a culture of philanthropy as a form of social responsibility.

The Board also expressed gratitude to Professor Dr. Bojana Ćulum Ilić for her dedicated service and contributions to the Foundation’s visibility and support of the university community during her leadership.
