Saab partners with three Swedish firms to expand space defense capabilities

Saab has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with three Swedish companies—SSC Space, OHB Sweden, and Ericsson—to expand its role as a system integrator in the space sector. The initiative aims to strengthen the sovereign technological and defense capabilities of Sweden and the broader Scandinavian region, reducing foreign dependency.

The collaboration focuses on integrating space-based capabilities into air, land, sea, and cyber domains to enhance operational awareness, connectivity, and resilience. Specifically, the agreement with OHB Sweden explores the integration of existing and future satellite systems and platforms with Saab’s multi-domain solutions. The partnership with SSC Space will evaluate how Saab’s integration capabilities can combine with ground station networks, mission engineering, and launch infrastructure, including the Esrange Space Center.

These strategic moves respond to the increasing importance of space for defense, security, and infrastructure, including communication, earth observation, navigation, and early warning systems.
