Saab secures €930 million GlobalEye order from undisclosed Middle‑East customer

Swedish defence firm Saab AB announced a contract for two additional GlobalEye airborne early‑warning and control (AEW&C) systems, valued at roughly €930 million. The aircraft, based on the Bombardier Global 6500 platform, are slated for delivery by 2030 to an unnamed Middle‑East client, a nation that has previously been linked to the programme such as Qatar or Saudi Arabia. The deal follows earlier orders from the United Arab Emirates and highlights growing demand for modern AEW&C replacements for aging Boeing E‑3 Sentry fleets.

The new contract raises questions for Saab about expanding its production capacity to meet rising international interest, as other customers including France and Canada have also shown intent to acquire the system. NATO is monitoring the market as it seeks a successor to its multinational E‑3 AWACS fleet.
