Saab sells two GlobalEye surveillance aircraft to undisclosed Middle Eastern buyer

Swedish defence company Saab AB announced a contract worth roughly $1 billion to deliver two GlobalEye airborne early‑warning and surveillance aircraft to an unnamed Middle Eastern state. Delivery is planned for 2030. The GlobalEye platform, built on the Bombardier Global 6000 business jet, combines active and passive sensors to monitor air, sea and land, can stay airborne for up to 12 hours and detects targets at distances beyond 650 km.

Saab cited growing global demand for multi‑domain surveillance capability. Existing operators include the United Arab Emirates, which already fields five GlobalEye aircraft, while Sweden has ordered three and France two. NATO has also signalled interest in acquiring up to ten modified GlobalEye aircraft to replace older AWACS systems.
