Saab secures major defense contracts with Finland and Netherlands

Saab has secured significant defense contracts with Finland and the Netherlands. The Finnish Defence Forces have placed an initial order for the RBS 70 NG short-range air defence system, valued at SEK 1.2 billion. This new generation of missile system features unjammable laser guidance, automatic target tracking, and night capabilities. The contract also establishes a framework for future orders, training, and maintenance.

In a separate agreement, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence has contracted Saab for the delivery of Barracuda mobile camouflage systems. The initial order includes equipment for Fennek reconnaissance vehicles and Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers. The multispectral camouflage is designed to protect vehicles from detection across various sensor spectrums in forest, urban, and arctic environments.

Furthermore, Sweden and Finland have strengthened bilateral military cooperation. Following concerns regarding Russian activity near the Finnish border, Sweden will provide regional surveillance support through the deployment of Gripen fighter jets and Visby-class corvettes. This cooperation aims to bolster Finnish air and maritime security during periods of heightened regional tension.
