Saadet Party official warns of growing accessibility issues for visually impaired
İsrafil Bayrakçı, the Saadet Party's Disabled Coordination President, issued a statement marking World White Cane Day on October 15, noting that the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals have increased over the past year.
Bayrakçı criticized the lack of response to previous requests made to authorities and local governments. He highlighted several urban infrastructure failures that impede independent living, including vehicles parked on yellow tactile guide paths, sidewalks obstructed by local businesses, open potholes, and malfunctioning audible traffic signals.
Furthermore, Bayrakçı argued that the national political and media agenda has become disconnected from the real issues facing the visually impaired and low-income populations, focusing instead on political disputes and the misuse of public resources.
