Saanich and Peninsula residents urged to conserve water during emergency repairs
The Capital Regional District (CRD) has announced emergency repairs to a major regional water transmission main located along the northbound section of the Trans-Canada Highway. The work is scheduled to begin Thursday, September 24, and is expected to conclude by Monday, with crews working around the clock.
Residents and businesses in Saanich and the Saanich Peninsula are being asked to reduce and delay non-essential water use, such as car washing and outdoor watering, to help maintain water pressure. While the Saanich Peninsula will receive water through alternate infrastructure, this supply has lower pressure and capacity than the primary main.
In Saanich, specifically in areas such as West Saanich, Knockan Hill, Royal Oak, and Prospect Lake, residents may experience reduced water pressure. The District of North Saanich stated that while pressure may fluctuate, water quality is not expected to be affected.
