Saarland economy shows no turnaround as business confidence remains low
The Industrie‑ und Handelskammer (IHK) Saarland released its July 2026 survey of roughly 300 firms employing about 90,000 people. Persistent high location costs and renewed tensions in the Persian Gulf keep energy and raw‑material prices under pressure, adding further uncertainty for Saarland businesses.
Thomé called for continued reform and greater entrepreneurial freedom to restore investment, innovation and growth in the region.
