Saarland launches digital transformation strategy for 2035
The Saarland state government has introduced a comprehensive digital transformation strategy titled ‘Digitales Saarland 2035’. The goal of the initiative is to develop the region into one of the most innovative areas in Europe by 2035.
Developed over one year with input from experts and 400 citizens, the strategy focuses on nine key areas. These include the expansion of gigabit, cyber, and data infrastructure, as well as strengthening digital competencies. The plan also targets digital solutions for healthcare, mobility, and disaster protection.
Economic objectives include accelerating the implementation of research findings in artificial intelligence and digitalization into commercial products to ensure a prosperous regional economy. On a social level, the strategy aims to improve quality of life by digitizing bureaucratic processes, such as vehicle registration and social service applications, while ensuring robust mobile connectivity and fiber-optic access.
