Saarland named ‘Master of the Feierabend’ in Rügenwalder Mühle study
Rügenwalder Mühle has released the results of its ‘Feierabend Monitor’, a nationwide representative study conducted by september Strategie & Forschung regarding how people in Germany experience their post-work downtime.
The study highlights that the end of the working day holds significant emotional value, with 74 percent of respondents viewing it as an important retreat and 85 percent associating it with dinner. However, many struggle to disconnect; 40 percent report that their downtime is insufficient for relaxation, often due to private concerns, inner restlessness, or unfinished tasks.
Regional differences were identified, with the state of Saarland being named the ‘Master of the Feierabend’. Residents in Saarland reported higher frequencies of specific relaxation rituals compared to the national average, such as wearing comfortable clothing (68 percent versus 52 percent nationwide) and spending time in the fresh air (43 percent versus 27 percent).
