Saarland traffic accidents leave two men and a senior woman seriously injured

Two separate serious traffic incidents occurred in the Saarland region of Germany.

On the A620 motorway between Klarenthal and Gersweiler, two cars overturned on Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary police findings suggest one vehicle suddenly veered sharply to the right from the overtaking lane, pushing the adjacent car toward a ditch. Both drivers, aged 66 and 54, sustained serious injuries but were able to exit their vehicles independently before being hospitalized. The accident caused significant traffic disruptions on the route toward Saarbrücken.

In a separate incident in downtown Saarbrücken on Wednesday morning, a 91-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car. Police report that the driver allegedly violated a no-left-turn rule at the intersection of Stengelstraße. Witnesses stated the driver briefly braked before fleeing the scene toward Heuduckstraße without providing assistance. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, though police indicated her life is not in danger. Authorities are currently searching for the driver and seeking witnesses.
