Saarland’s Alt‑Rohrbach Fest and Rötenbach’s Dorfkirbe draw crowds in August
The Alt‑Rohrbach Fest, first held in August 1980 in the Saarland village of Rohrbach, is organized by a committee of local clubs and the CDU. The opening featured a ceremonial beer barrel tapped by Mayor Dr. Werner Hellenthal, with performances by the village music club and participation from more than 45 local associations.
Rötenbach’s Dorfkirbe, a tradition dating back to 1785, took place over the third August weekend. The festivities began with a beer tap by the Musikkapelle Rötenbach under Michael Bohner, followed by concerts, a rock‑and‑roll evening, church services, and a series of food and beverage offerings. Both events were free to the public and highlighted the role of community groups in preserving local culture.
