Sabá and Olmedo mark municipal and cantonization anniversaries

The municipality of Sabá, Honduras, is celebrating 62 years of municipal independence. The milestone marks the anniversary of the decree signed on September 3, 1964, by then-President Osvaldo López Arellano, which transitioned the area from a village within the Sonaguera municipality to an independent municipality. The community originally grew along the Aguán River during the banana company boom.

In Ecuador, the canton of Olmedo marked 32 years of cantonization with the announcement of several development projects. Manabí Prefect, Leonardo Orlando, highlighted investments exceeding $5.1 million since 2019, focusing on road infrastructure. Key upcoming projects include a $6 million initiative to improve connectivity between Manabí and Guayas via the Olmedo–Colimes route, funded through the Development Bank of Ecuador and the Inter-American Development Bank. Additionally, efforts are underway to upgrade the local Type B Health Center.
