Sabah Agricultural Park hosts festival showcasing 1,000 native species
The Sabah Agricultural Park in Lagut Seberang, Tenom, has assembled a collection of approximately 1,000 species of plants, including native fruits, wild orchids, and various orchid plants. The collection aims to preserve Sabah’s native flora heritage and educate younger generations who may be unfamiliar with local species or their edibility.
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar officially opened the 2026 Indigenous Flower and Fruit Festival at the park. The 10-day event features various activities such as fishing, cycling, fashion and rocket competitions, and a ‘Fun Run’ through the park’s lush environment. Efforts are being made to increase promotion of the park to visitors in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Brunei.
