Sabah allocates RM2.33 million in sports incentives and launches tech-driven football program
The Sabah state government has announced RM2.33 million in victory incentives for the SUKMA and Para SUKMA 2026 contingents. The funds are distributed among medalists, coaches, and team managers. Specifically, RM697,400 is designated for SUKMA medalists, RM1.109 million for Para SUKMA winners, RM428,500 for coaches, and RM102,000 for team managers. Additionally, the state continues a program initiated in 2023 to contribute RM50 monthly to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for eligible athletes to support their long-term welfare.
In a separate effort to modernize sports development, Coca-Cola and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) have launched the 'Coca-Cola: Bina Juara' program. This grassroots initiative aims to bridge the gap in access to sports science and professional technology for young football players in Sabah. The program integrates advanced tools such as GPS performance tracking vests, artificial intelligence (AI) for match analysis, and smart ball technology to help athletes and coaches monitor and improve physical fitness, tactical understanding, and technical skills.
