Sabah and Sarawak parliamentary seat increase welcomed

Former Sabah Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun has welcomed the Federal Government's decision to increase the number of Parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak. She emphasized that such a move is essential to strengthen the representation of these states within the Dewan Rakyat.

Azizah noted that increasing seats would help ensure the voices of residents in remote and rural areas are more effectively conveyed to Parliament. She highlighted that better representation is crucial for addressing local issues, such as poverty in Sabah, which requires interventions tailored to the specific needs of different communities.

While supporting the initiative announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Azizah acknowledged that the implementation will require following established procedures, including potential constitutional amendments and parliamentary approval.
