Sabah and Selangor announce cash rewards for SUKMA gold medalists

The governments of Sabah and Selangor have disclosed cash incentive schemes for athletes competing in the 22nd Sukma Games in Selangor. Sabah will pay RM10,000 to each gold‑medal winner, RM3,000 for silver and RM2,000 for bronze, with a target of 40 gold medals from its 744‑person contingent. The state also plans to support Para‑Sukma athletes with the same rewards.

Selangor’s chief minister, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said gold‑medal athletes will receive RM15,000 if the state finishes as overall Sukma champion, otherwise RM10,000. Group‑event incentives range from RM5,000 to RM10,000 depending on team size, and similar rewards apply to Para‑Sukma participants. Selangor aims to repeat its overall championship and has entered over 1,000 athletes across 37 sports.
