Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor outlines economic and infrastructure goals
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor stated that the state's annual revenue, which has reached RM7 billion, must be utilized to address fundamental public needs, including water supply, roads, and electricity. Speaking at the GRS 2026 Convention, he emphasized that political and financial stability is only valuable if it translates into tangible solutions for the people.
To address long-standing infrastructure issues, the state government is implementing various projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13). These include 173 Public Works Department (JKR) projects and 77 water supply projects involving the construction and upgrading of bridges, roads, and water treatment plants.
Additionally, Hajiji identified Kudat as a potential regional Blue Economy Hub. Through the proposed Blue Economy Industrial Park (BEIP) led by the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), the initiative will focus on maritime development, green technology, seafood industries, and trade logistics. The project aims to leverage Kudat's strategic location to expand trade with China, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines.
