Sabah Federal development expenditure reaches 71.78 percent
Federal development expenditure in Sabah has increased to 71.78 percent as of October 26, up from 52.07 percent recorded on August 10. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor reported that 291 development projects have been completed this year, including the Sabah Science Secondary School in Kota Kinabalu and Sekolah Kebangsaan Buit Hill in Penampang.
During the Sabah State Development Action Council meeting, Hajiji urged ministries, departments, and implementing agencies to optimize the remaining allocations before the end of the 2026 financial year. He emphasized the need to address “sick projects” or those facing implementation constraints, specifically citing issues such as technical approvals, land acquisition, utility relocation, procurement, and contract management.
Hajiji also welcomed the RM18.7 billion allocation for Sabah in the MADANI Budget 2027, which is an increase from the RM17.6 billion allocated this year. He stressed that all development funds must be translated into tangible benefits and improvements for the people of Sabah.
