Sabah FK qualifies for Champions League for the first time

Azerbaijani club Sabah has achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in its history. The team secured its place in the competition's final phase after defeating Hapoel Beer Sheva in the final qualifying round.

The achievement is credited to Lithuanian manager Valdas Dambrauskas, whose career path includes a unique origin story. Dambrauskas funded his sports science studies at the University of London using prize money won as a contestant on the Lithuanian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’.

Following his studies, Dambrauskas held roles within the youth sectors of Fulham and Manchester United before managing various clubs in Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Croatia. His recent success with Sabah marks a significant new chapter in his coaching career.
