Sabah government allocates RM8.24 million for women's empowerment

The Sabah state government is intensifying efforts to empower women and support family well-being to drive economic and social development. An allocation of RM8.24 million has been provided to the Sabah Women Affairs Department (JHEWA) this year to implement initiatives tailored to current community needs, with a specific focus on expanding benefits to rural and remote areas.

State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman noted that family harmony is a key driver for improving the quality of public service delivery. He highlighted that the state is strengthening women’s development through various policies, entrepreneurship programs, and social support initiatives aimed at increasing household income and reducing the poverty gap, particularly for the B40 group. He also reported that women now hold more than 30 per cent of senior positions within the state government administration.
