Sabah government initiatives support graduates and SMEs
The Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET) is advancing several programs to boost local employment and entrepreneurship. Through a strategic partnership between GN Resound Malaysia and Gain Forlife, 20 graduates of the Certificate in Precision Micro-Soldering & Electronics Technopreneurship program have received job offers in Johor. This collaboration has produced nearly 400 graduates across 27 training groups to date.
Additionally, the SME-UP Assistance Program has benefited 5,879 entrepreneurs in Sabah between 2017 and 2025. The program aims to enhance the production capacity, product quality, and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). New support measures introduced this year include assistance for halal certification and trademark registration.
To improve market access, MINDET has partnered with retail networks such as AEON, Bataras Supermarket, and PETRONAS Kedai Mesra, benefiting 630 local entrepreneurs. The state government has also approved a special industrial land lease policy to assist local companies in developing factories at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).
