Sabah government prioritizes citizen experience in GovTech agenda
The Sabah state government aims to prioritize citizen experience and proactive service delivery through its Government Technology (GovTech) agenda. During the opening of the 18th Digital@Sabah Seminar and Digital Tamu 2026, Chief Minister Hajiji Noor emphasized a people-centric design philosophy intended to reduce bureaucracy and ensure services reach citizens directly and smoothly.
Digital transformation is viewed as a critical driver for improving the ease of doing business in Sabah, which is expected to attract investment and advance the state economy. However, the Chief Minister noted that advanced technology is merely a tool; the success of GovTech depends on a mindset shift among civil servants, emphasizing efficiency, integrity, and empathy.
Furthermore, the modernization of the public sector through GovTech is intended to break down silos between state and federal agencies. Integrating data and systems across these levels is considered a prerequisite for creating fast, easy, and transparent services, particularly to bridge socioeconomic gaps and extend digital development to rural and remote areas.
