Sabah Police advise postponement of Israel Houghton concert

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun has advised the state government to postpone a planned concert by American gospel singer Israel Houghton in Kota Kinabalu. The recommendation follows public outcry and two police reports filed regarding the event, which was widely promoted on social media.

Although details regarding dates, locations, and ticket prices have circulated online, the police noted that no official application for the concert has been submitted to the state government. The commissioner highlighted that the singer's name has caused significant public sensitivity and confusion.

Police will continue to monitor the situation and gather statements from relevant parties. While no formal investigation has been opened, authorities are urging organizers to be mindful of current societal sensitivities.
