Sabah public welfare issues to be prioritized by JKOM

Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali, Director of the Department of Community Communication (JKOM), has stated that addressing the basic needs and survival of the people in Sabah will be a top priority. During a discussion with media practitioners in Sabah, he emphasized that the government must remain sensitive to the difficulties citizens face regarding food security, education, and healthcare services.

Key issues raised during the session include rising commodity prices, water supply, road infrastructure, diesel supply and quotas, and flight ticket costs. Feedback from these discussions will be compiled into reports for government leadership to ensure critical public interests are addressed.

In a related discussion on policy effectiveness, Shahidah Abdul Razak, a senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), highlighted the importance of two-way communication between the government and the public. She noted that citizen feedback serves as a vital indicator for evaluating and improving existing policies, suggesting that face-to-face engagement is necessary to complement social media in understanding the actual needs of the community.
