Sabah State Education Fund distributes RM40 million to students
The Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS) has distributed RM40 million in aid to 27,781 students across Sabah since its launch on June 2, 2022. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that between January and August of this year, 11,383 students received RM15.89 million in assistance.
During the launch of the TPNS Smart Application at Menara Kinabalu, Hajiji emphasized that the fund aims to expand educational access under the theme ‘Sponsorship Opportunities for All’. He noted that human capital development is a critical investment for the state's future, alongside physical infrastructure.
Additionally, the state government has allocated RM155 million this year for the Sabah State Government Scholarship (BKNS), specifically targeting students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. This allocation represents a significant increase from the RM50 million provided in 2020.
