Sabah targets 651,610 participants for National Sports Day 2026

Sabah aims to achieve a participation target of 651,610 people for the 2026 National Sports Day (HSN), representing approximately 17 percent of the state's population. The event is scheduled to take place simultaneously across the state on October 10.

Tuaran has been selected as the primary location for the state-level opening ceremony, which is expected to be held at Padang Istiadat Pekan Tuaran. The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM, is expected to be officiated by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and attract roughly 8,000 participants and visitors.

In addition to the main event in Tuaran, celebrations will be held concurrently in several other districts, including Tawau (Kunak), Sandakan, Beaufort, Kudat, and Keningau. The 2026 theme for the event is ‘Sports and AI Technology,’ featuring various activities such as Perdana Aerobics and MADANI Fun Runs to encourage a culture of physical activity among Sabah residents.
