Sabah wildlife officials encounter massive crocodiles in Malaysia
Two significant encounters with large crocodiles have been reported in the state of Sabah, Malaysia.
In the Kota Klias area of Beaufort, a group of anglers accidentally hooked a massive crocodile while fishing. The creature, measuring over 4.5 meters in length and weighing more than one tonne, was found to be deceased. Authorities from the Sabah Wildlife Department determined the animal had likely died previously and was sinking in the river before being caught by the hook.
In a separate incident near Ladang Sri Kunak in the Kunak district, wildlife officials responded to a human attack. After a man was seriously injured by a crocodile while gathering snails, the Sabah Wildlife Department conducted a week-long tracking operation. On April 27, officials located a 5.3-meter-long saltwater crocodile weighing approximately 800kg at Sungai Ladang. Believing this individual was responsible for the earlier attack, authorities shot and neutralized the animal.
