Sabancı University maintains second place in Turkey research rankings

Sabancı University has maintained its position as the second-ranked research university in Turkey according to the 2026 Research Universities Performance Rankings released by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

The university demonstrated significant growth in its research capacity, increasing its score by 2.44 points compared to the previous year. This metric encompasses scientific publications, citation rates, the volume of national and international projects, and intellectual property outputs.

Data from YÖK indicates substantial increases across 17 different indicators, particularly in intellectual property. Notable growth includes a 700% increase in collaborative patent documents between universities, a 150% rise in patents involving the business world, a 150% increase in international patents, and a 118% increase in national patent documents. Despite being smaller in scale than many other institutions, Sabancı University remains in the top A1 category.
