Sabesp issues 800,000 water consumption alerts in São Paulo

Sabesp, the Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo, has issued over 800,000 preventive alerts to consumers throughout the state. The initiative aims to notify residents immediately when water meters detect atypical or significantly increasing consumption patterns.

The company intends for these notifications to help consumers identify hidden structural issues, such as underground pipe cracks or faulty valves, before the next billing cycle. By providing early warning, the system seeks to prevent unexpected financial impacts caused by high water bills resulting from undetected leaks.

Separately, the Intermunicipal Consortium of Grande ABC has launched the second phase of its Water Source Signaling Plan. This regional project involves installing 144 signs, totems, and identification markers across six municipalities, including São Bernardo and Ribeirão Pires, to promote water resource protection and community awareness between 2026 and 2027.
