Sabiha Gökçen Airport features documentary on Özen Çakır Özel

Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport has released a new installment of its documentary series, ‘Women Without Borders in Aviation,’ highlighting the journey of Guest Experience Chief Özen Çakır Özel.

Özel, a former paragliding pilot, suffered severe injuries while attempting to save a passenger during an in-flight emergency. The accident required a prosthetic hip and an extensive rehabilitation process. Despite the challenges of returning to a male-dominated industry as a woman with a disability, Özel transitioned from the telecommunications sector back into aviation.

In her current role at ISG, Özel focuses on human-centric guest experiences, managing various touchpoints including security, cleaning, and ground services to ensure a cohesive passenger experience.
