Sabiha Gökçen Airport reports 33 million passengers amid management shifts

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has reported significant growth, serving over 33.1 million passengers during the first eight months of the year. Faruk Kacır, General Manager of the Sabiha Gökçen Airport Authority (HEAŞ), stated that the airport managed 188,833 flights during this period, with more than 14 million passengers traveling through the terminal during the peak summer months of June, July, and August.

Parallel to these operational statistics, changes are occurring within the airport's commercial sector. The Duty Free Manager at Avolta, a veteran with approximately 27 years of experience at the company, departed from their position on September 17, 2026. This departure has led to speculation regarding a potential management restructuring at the airport, as new HR and Operations Managers have recently taken their posts and other personnel are expected to transition from Antalya operations to Sabiha Gökçen by late September.
